Sneak Peek - Dance It! 2013

The international intensive program Dance It! (April 1-7, 2013, Sofia) traditionally ends with a big final show - Sneak Peek - which can be seen only once. It stages all choreographies developed during the program in five different dance styles – a combination of the innovative work by the famous US guest-choreographers involving all Dance It! participants from Bulgaria and its neighboring countries.

SURFACING - Von Howard Project

Iliev Dance Art Foundation is pleased to introduce for the first time in Bulgaria VON HOWARD PROJECT - a contemporary dance company based in New York City. The company will make its debut appearance during the week of the “Dance It!” intensive program, with the premiere of “Surfacing” – a new dance piece by choreographer Christian von Howard.

Dance It! is a week-long annual dance intensive program which takes place in Bulgaria during the academic spring break (1st – 7th April). It is an international collaboration which targets young dancers from Bulgaria and from all over the world.

Dance It! is a dance intensive week-long workshop program, which will be held for the second time this year from the10th to the 16th of September in the National School of Dance Art in Sofia, Bulgaria.

This is a project by Iliev Dance Art Foundation, an internationally-focused organization founded in 2008 by Petur Iliev – Bulgarian-born choreographer in Chicago, Seattle and Sofia. The America for Bulgaria Foundation is the project’s main funding partner since 2011.

Yamato – The Drummers of Japan

Yamato – The Drummers of Japan, is an explosive troupe of Japanese taiko drummers that combines a sense of drama with the primal power of percussion, producing one of the world’s most physical forms of music. Yamato performs with various sizes of drums, some of which are created from trees as old as 400 years, and adds timpani and flute for an evening of highly charged rhythm—from the patter of raindrops to the hammered-out beat of rolling thunder.

TANGO SEDUCCION


The Argentine tango show Tango Seduccion of the world-famous tango dancer and choreographer Gustavo Russo can be seen in Sofia in June. Tango Seduccion is a spectacular show that through scenic combinations of traditional tango, classic ballet and modern dance tells the fascinating history of the Tango – from its beginning until recent days.

Ballet Nacional de España


The National Ballet of Spain is one of the most famous in the world. Founded in 1978 by the Spanish Ministry of Culture, with Director Antonio Gades (1978-1980) and more than 30 years is the best ambassador of Spanish culture in the world. The Ballet evolves with time and has retained an interest in all styles of Spanish dance, performing a bolero, a stylized flamenco and other. On the other hand, the ballet is combining tradition and modernity.
