With a variety of events on September 17 this year will be celebrated the official day of Sofia.

Before noon 11:30 the Sofia Municipal Council will hold a solemn session; the traditional flag-raising ceremony of Sofia Municipality will be in front the St. Sofia Church.

In the Central City Park in front of the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov" a full day program for children is organized, and from 17:30 begins the performance of Sofia Brass Orchestra.

At 18:30 is the start of the ceremony of the Sofia Municipality Awards for exceptional achievements in the field of culture. The event will be held at the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov" and, besides announcing the nominees and winners in "Literature", "Theatre", "Music", "Movies", "Architecture", "Journalism", "Art" and the Special Award of Sofia, it includes music performance.Director of the ceremony this year is Professor Ivan Dobchev, scriptwriter is Dimitar Stoyanovich and designer of the scene - Venelin Shurelov. Tickets for this event can be purchased at the ticket office located in the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov".
