THE MOST GRANDIOSE SHOW IN THE HISTORY OF ROCK MUSIC WILL BE PERFORMED IN BULGARIA FOR THE FIRST TIME!

Roger Waters was the leader and founding member of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd. In 1979 Pink Floyd released the ground-breaking record THE WALL, an album that has remained among the most popular rock masterpieces of all time, going platinum multiple times. The autobiographical rock opera is based on Waters’ own life experiences. Three years after its release, Alan Parker directed a film version of THE WALL that starred Bob Geldof as the protagonist.

Even though THE WALL had been performed close to 30 times in its entirety up till now, Roger Waters had always had grand designs to expand the production into a previously unseen magnitude. In 1990, Waters transformed THE WALL into a stunning audio and visual spectacle, that he performed live in Berlin for an audience of 200 000. The show garnered immediate success, selling out a 56 date tour in North America, followed by engagements in Australia, South America, and the whole of Europe.

The stage show of the tour focuses around the fall of the Berlin Wall, an historic event that marked the end of the Cold War and brought East and West Germany together for the first time in 28 years. As part of the show, and as an anti-war appeal, Roger Waters incorporates audience narratives by encouraging audience members to send in photos of family members or loved ones that lost their lives during an armed conflict.

Galvanizing the energy of his successes in 2010, Roger Waters decided to reformat THE WALL into a show designed for large open-air venues. This new format makes the show universally accessible to audience members by affording every spectator an ideal vantage point through the use of LED screens. So far, 192 shows have been perfomed in front of audiences of 3.3 million people in 28 countries, with ticket revenue reaching over $380 million.

Roger Waters says, “I’m extremely glad to be playing THE WALL in Europe again. It’s going to be a lot of fun for all of us. I’ve reworked the show to play outdoors in large stadiums. It’s really good. Even more moving, engaging, dramatic and thrilling than the Arena shows.  I’ve had to rethink the whole thing about stadiums. This wide wall stadium show couldn’t have been done 40 years ago. We couldn’t have filled the space in a way that would have been emotionally, musically and theatrically satisfying.  Technology has changed.  Now we can.”

For these large open air stadiums, Roger Waters has re-designed and scaled up The Wall show to create the ultimate stadium event, bringing The Wall experience even closer to fans wherever they are sitting and making the production even more encompassing in large venues.
